Diversity is better, we really haven't a clue of the long term impacts of our decisions. But, on the other side, how many vegetables do you eat that have been genetically selected based on mutation? For example, do you like sweet corn? It is based on a genetic mutation, which of course also means it is a very narrow genetic base.
