The hand cranking doesn't seem a good idea for a computer, when you need your hands free to use the keyboard, and having to stop what you are doing periodically in order to crank it again. I think a bicycle arrangement under a desk is the way to go, then the user can be slowing pedalling to keep the computer running indefinitely.
