Post What is the Weather like.

I live in Vicenza, Italy. It is a city almost exactly halfway between Venice and Verona.

The climate has definitely warmed up in the last 30 years here. For instance, it never snows here anymore. When I was here in teh 1970's it snowed every year and the winters were very cold. Now it almost never snows and the winters are so warm that we can get by most of the winter with light jackets. For most of the winter, we only need to turn on the heat during the afternoon and nighttime hours just to take the chill out of the house. Sure there are cold days but all in all the winters have gotten very mild. In fact, there were many ski resorts just about an hour north of here, now most are struggling are have shut down. In any case, all of them rely on artificial snow to make it through the winter. It use to be that from my back terrace you could look out and see snow on the mountains all year long. Now there is only snow from late fall until mid - April.

The last two summers have been brutally hot. The summer of 2006 was both hot and very dry. Lately, we have had good rainfall, but the hot summers have continued.

Vicenza, is doing all it can to combat air pollution, but it is not easy in these old cities and air pollution remains a big problem.
