There are many areas on the planet that don't have any man made record of weather, and quite a few, my own included that have less than a hundred years of record. As OH-IO1981 indicated he/she is aware of the other kinds of records available to those who can read them.

Speaking of reading material here's something from the world meteorological organization concerning the issue. I kind of suspect that they are wrong about the duration of La Nina this time around, anyone like to bet that it goes on past the two year span of a normal strong event?

info_44_en.html

"La Niņa modulates climate variability. There has always been and there will always be cooler and warmer years, but what is important for climate change in the present context is that the trend is still upwards; the global climate on an average is warming despite the temporary cooling brought about by La Niņa."
OK so folks can come in, post shit and we are all to sit here and nod politely in agreement? So many folks post in forums with the latest bit of "news"that they have read ,giving the impression that they have PhD then when you question them you find that they are 12and 3/4 years old and mommy told them to stop looking at porn and do something nice for a change and that why they are here.
Now I am really sorry if you don't have long term weather records from your area but you could get out there and get some and not having them is not an excuse for dumbing down the subject.Try a few mud cores from a lake or a few nice tree rings for starters.Or ask.
